About

Boglárka Boruzs (2000) is based in Budapest. She is currently studying at the Painting department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. In 2025, she spent a semester at the graphics department of ISI Yogyakarta with an Erasmus scholarship.

“In my practice, I employ science fiction based worldbuilding strategies, viewing my works and exhibitions as portals into alternative universes that offer new perspectives for interpreting our reality. Through my latest projects, Saltpunk and Plasma Rising, I have explored the interweaving of science and magic, as well as how we might function as human communities in a post-apocalyptic future.

In my creative approach, I work through a kind of shift in emphasis, recognizing that as an artist I am only one part of a system; I am no more important than the various technologies and materials that contribute to the creation of the artworks. My practice encompasses both 2D and 3D media, working primarily with oil painting, but also combining deconstructed found objects, plotter and hand drawing, VR modeling, 3D printing, and digital modeling. These different processes operate on an equal footing, while mutually testing one another’s boundaries and possibilities. Through transitions between the digital and the handmade, the artificial and the found, the virtual and the physical, I create objects and spaces that can appear simultaneously as archaeological finds from millions of years ago or as extraterrestrial objects from the distant future.

In exhibition contexts, the site itself becomes an active force that shapes the installations and, indeed, the concepts of the works. Through the unique properties of these many factors, I also play with losing and then regaining control as the human agent within the process. My works are therefore characterized by a human–non-human duality, as I combine digital tools and their visual and physical properties with individual decisions made through the use of traditional artistic techniques.
